GE2221 Violence and Crime A Course Workload : 2 in-class assignments (30%) 1 project (30%) 1 test (MC test) (40%)For the first in-class assignment, Samuel prepared a MC quiz with a total of 15 or 20 questions. Since Samuel told us that the assignment would be a MC closed-book quiz one week before the quiz date, it was extremely rush that we had to revise seven lecture notes within a week. However, the questions were very straight-forward. For the second in-class assignment, Stani prepared an essay question. Instead of writing a whole essay, you only need to write down the points. Stani also allowed us to find information from the Internet and discuss with other students. For the project, you need to choose a crime and analyze it using theories. As there will be 4 to 5 groupmates, it is not hard to finish 4000 words report. For the test, there will be 30 true-and-false MC questions and some fill-in-the-blank answers. Some of the questions were the same as the first assignment, therefore it does not take you much time to think about them. However, there were about 1 to 2 questions, which were not taught in lectures. In this case, you could only guess the answers. Overall, the questions were not tricky and quite easy. I think that this course is easy to study and the words are not difficult to memorize. I would recommend you to choose Stani Lai as the main lecturer as what Samuel said was very hard to understand due to his accent.
