2016/17 Sem A

呢個GE簡直大伏 本身似為有BIO CHEM底會OK (DSE bio lv5) 點知中晒伏
第一, lecturer D英文難明又講得快(佢好似德國人?) 自問英文冇返咁上下真係唔好reg 第二, 有exam, 難度可以話高, 考試係MC 加4條LQ 。由於大部份佢個course既ppt係多圖 少字, 上堂要drop note先夠材料溫到書 ,所以就算好勤力溫晒個ppt 考試都可以唔識。第三 group presentation(4人) 要求好高 guideline 又少。 大概內容係去field trip (濕地公園) 每組簡一種動物去研究習性, present你個研究內容大約係 要先諗個假設後利用係field trip既片作證明 個假設係岩定錯, 其實好似做份REPORT咁 但要以presentation形式做, 真係要有個好GPMATES先做得好 。
真心建議唔好REG , 除非覺得自己太得閒 鍾意早起身上9點堂 MAJOR科又唔洗溫書既去REG吧。

唔好睇呢科好grade唔計attendance就reg
冇用過英文讀bio reg 前請三思!!!
佢好多technical terms,查字典有排你查
見到好多冇讀過bio even用中文讀過嘅爛grade
除非你平時睇開國家地理頻道啲紀錄片,又唔怕背好多奇奇怪怪嘅動物野
想去下濕地公園睇成日動物,得閒走下堂,咁呢個course就啱你啦

***個prof好憎人ppt唔加ref link落圖片附近,記住present前check清楚

2015/16 Sem A

Reg科前刨GE指南 見到好多comment都話呢科幾好 所以先簡呢科讀
但估唔到最尾轉左professor黎教 頭果幾個星期真係幾難頂 一黎自己高中果陣冇讀bio (教嘅野都唔係好深 但記英文專詞幾吃力 要勁查字典) 二黎professor講野真係悶(雖然對同學幾善良) 三黎lecture notes好多都係只放d研究結果出黎 上堂冇聽/聽唔切professor解釋其實都唔清楚係咩黎
Guest lectures反而覺得都算有趣
功課方面 workload都唔算多
-group project真係要有好/思路清晰嘅groupmate先得 否則就死緊 (我黎講覺得自己group presentation 同 report係做得最差)
-discussion board 要比心機做 佔嘅percentage都多 最好要回應人地comment (今個sem嘅so-called exam revision係因為有部分人db做得差 想比機會佢地拉分 但由於太突然 唔溫書真係完全唔識 連問題都唔知問緊咩)
Exam係mc同longq. 經歷左個exam revision以為自己死緊 但最尾都放左好多心機衝exam
係瘋狂Google嘅情況下 考試果日都算順利 個grade都係預料之外
最後結論: 有咩唔識就google啦 真係會幫到你(笑)

2015/16 Sem A

Workload:
20% Discussion broad : week 2 - week 9 (分A,B 兩組問答 隔星期post問題)
15% individual species report
25% Group field trip report (HK wetland Park)
40% examination (翻炒past paper)

本身上GE指南見到大家都對Margaret讚不絕口 於是就馬上衝去reg喇..
開學前仲要waitlist 第5個 最後reg到好開心 ..點知上堂先先知轉左prof.
上左頭2星期堂就發覺完全沒期望 上堂好悶
照ppt 讀 又唔放note 上canvas (我自己催佢放+問人拎sources)
最後以往一直FULL既GE科 係開學後2星期變淨6個位

內容有趣但佢講到好悶 基本上所有野都係靠自己google + 溫note 讀返黎
不過順帶一提每星期既discussion broad 最好搵啲上堂相關既議題
做完基本上都當溫埋書. 但唔好以為discussion broad勤力就可以唔洗溫.
佢無喇喇sem 尾整個syllabus 以外既突擊測試 計落discussion broad 10%.
差啲俾佢玩死. 好彩最後無事

為免大家too long didn't read.總結如下
prof 悶+hea 但可以靠自己背哂note 同lecture revision 就無問題 (no attendance)
識做哂過往2年past paper = A range ..
Good grade 走堂精選!

B+

有bio底同鐘意bio嘅人take會比較易,而且真係學到好多野。
上Margaret唔會悶,個課程好有趣而且佢亦講得好生動。
Online discussion會花多d時間,除左post你搵到嘅新聞之外最好都同其他同學interact下。
但係如果你係想hea就真係唔好reg, Grade與你嘅努力成正比。

A-

这个课给我的最深刻的感受就是出乎意料。
首先,我没有想到课程内容主要是有关动物行为的。然而,内容之生动有趣、发人深省令人眼前一亮。特别是最后的有关广告、美和冥想的guest lecture,真是令人难忘。
其次,作业是reports and presentation. 依我看,难度不小,并不轻松。需要搜索大量资料并整理、分析、概括,提出自己的看法与结论。
再次,有一个field trip,真是极好。亲近自然,近距离感受动物行为研究,这一项在ge之中必是凤毛麟角。
最后,我本以为成绩不会太好的时候,结果却比想象的好。

課堂內容好有趣
要做6個Week 既online discussion,
雖然唔要求寫好多, 但有時搵資料 無意中會用左好多時間
基本上, 上課明哂, Exam 都唔會覺得好難既!
同埋Margaret 講解得好好, 唔洗點溫書 都會對佢既堂好深印象!
好中意上佢既堂!

1. 20% online discussion board
post news or articles related to bio for three weeks n comment posts of others for three weeks
esay task, but remember to do it every week

2. 15% individual species report
discuss a behaviour of a species in scientific terms in 3 to 5 pages

3. 25% field trip report n presentation
group work, two to three ppl a group
visit wetland park n observe behaviour of a species there
present for 10 to 15 min n then write a report based on presentation in 3 to 5 pages

4. 40% final exam
test yr knowlegde taught in class n guest lecture
include mc n short q

dun needa take attendance, however u may not understand the content if u skip lesson
classes are interesting, but only for students who are interested in bio n animal
margaret is a great teacher, especially her american acent

每個禮拜post1次discussion board 3次comment 3次開post
有1次field trip去濕地公園 然後2個人1gp 做present+report
另外1份individual assignment同final
上課講好多動物既behaviour同d hormones
鍾意bio take會覺得易同學到野
如果對bio冇與趣既話可能會覺得好悶同埋好多難既字
lecturer好好人 不過個grade就比我expect既緊左d

An interesting GE with a nice teacher!
The lectures were relaxing that Margaret shared us some animal clips and information in a nice and clear way.
Workload is quite normal. Online discussion every week + one individual species report + one field trip group project (written+presentation). Work hard in these take-home assignments and it should be fine. Feel free to ask Margaret if you have encountered some problems. She is really helpful!
Skipping lessons are very risky in this GE because some important notes should be taken in class.
Recommend to students who love biology or animal behavior :)

上Margaret堂真係好睇好正好聽
正宗英文又唔係好快連一個ELC既人都聽得明
而且Margaret真係好NICE又靚女
冇學過BIO野上黎個COURSE真係學到好多野
佢堂堂都好有心機教
只要有上堂就會聽得明
相反有2堂GUEST LECTURE係LOCAL教
個人認為佢地教得幾HEA
同Margaret比就相形見拙

WORKLOAD都算合理
但要注意記得比心機做足6次 Discussion Board
因為HEA做搞到overall 得C+
但有 Field Trip Report 同 Individual Species Report拉返

EXAM幾易
有心機上堂其實溫半日就可以出去考
MC簡單
SHORT Q 有小小野背但有D字唔遁得黠串都可以係MC搵返

OVERALL 大愛 Margaret<3

真係唔幫Margaret宣傳下都唔得.雖然呢個係新GE,但係讀呢個GE真係學到超多野,絕對係一個值得選擇既GE.Margaret份人又nice.小弟英文麻麻,膽粗粗走去問距野,距都好耐心教.除此之外,最j-able既就係Margaret既純正American English口音,真係聽出耳油.

個GE唔take attendance.小弟走堂當食生菜,可以好自豪咁講,呢個GE,我一堂都沒走過.因為上少一堂已經覺得miss左好多野.Assignment有每個week既200-300字左右既journal reflection. 有一份Individual report 要交,大約1000-1200字.仲有一次field trip(去左HK Wetland Park),2個人一組交一份report大約1500字+10分鐘presentation.

呢個GE唔係比你拉高GPA既好grade課程,而且assignment相比其他GE都較多,而且D野較難.如果你又想hea又想好grade,請千萬唔好reg呢個GE.但係如果真係想學野,呢個GE絕對適合你. 想好grade唔係唔得,但係一定要比多d心機.

Agree with the previous comment.
Very interesting course and very funny teacher, have learnt so much.
If you have studied AL bio, it's easy to study cuz things were similar.
I heard quit a few students did not get a fine grade, maybe B- or below.
I have to declare that because they did the assignments wrongly and some of them actually cheated, as they handed in the similar content of the individual report and the final report. Maybe they believed Margaret was too nice to give a bad grade.
B grade is reasonable. I did not study well for the exam, hence I probably got a B. And I missed a week journal, so a week of mark was deducted and turned from A- to B-, too sad!! B+ for report and A- for paper.

學到好多,內容有趣的一科,主要關於生物求偶時的行為同生理作用,唔學唔知咁多野。即使唔計attendance,我都返足。

Margaret係個超friendly的老師,你問咩佢都會好有耐性答你,而且有時上堂仲print埋notes俾我地,人又funny。

上堂冇exercise。主要每week 一篇journal 250~300,total 8 weeks, 25%。去一次field trip wetland park,然後2 people 10 min present plus 1400 wds report, 20%。另有 individual report 1000 wds, 15%。 Exam (short q + MC),40%。

對於B呢個grade,已經好開心。因為我只係F.4讀過 bio,F.5就已經drop左,AL更唔駛講,而且 journal 有個week完全唔記得寫,如果我努力煲notes two weeks,max. 都應該得B+。由於同班有太多 science students,上堂聽佢地傾野已經嚇窒,exam 2hr paper,佢地1hr就離場,我就坐足。記得short q我15分鐘隔行都只寫3/5版,左右隔離個男同女寫足1版半。同呢d勁人拉curve,出黎都有B,我覺得自己好勁!
