2018/19 Sem A

C+

Don’t reg this course useless you have a solid background on statistics.

The lecturer don’t not care abt the project and assignment at all. No marking nor instructions are provided.

The lectures are useless cuz he just reads the ppt only.

The lecture is pretty straight forward. Even for people who are from different departments, the lecture slides are enough.

As for the professor, he gives the grading without any explanation and refuses to revaluate any final papers. The finals again was straight forward questions about mean mode median etc. but the professor does not care at all.
I worked really hard but the professor does not actually care and is very stubborn. Questions are not even entertained properly. Will not advise anyone to take this course if the professor is still there.

C+

If you are good at calculating, then you can reg. 60% quiz (all questions are mathematical kinds) is all the matters.

The lecturer doesn't care the individual report and project. When the student has the doubts and asks the lecturer question (especially for the ind. and pj), he keeps saying sth useless. He can not give me the exact grading for my individual report and project when I request the appeal for the course.

The lecture is boring and useless also, the lecturer just reading the powerpoint.

2014/15 Sem B

A

兩個group project 但吾難既
仲有individual assignment 畫棒形圖
教既野係stat 最簡單個種,中學都教過
我成組冇人讀science or engine,但projectmates好好
上堂聽下書,考試記熟佢既notes
workload真係吾大,不過學吾到d咩

2015/16 Sem A

B

這門課就是,如果你想get A range,你需要花很大努力背data,這樣如果你把所有data都背得很熟,基本就可以A range。
其實有很多data正常人都會覺得沒什麼用處,例如HK一年的道路行車輛。不過final paper就會很明確直接地問你HK一年的道路行車輛是多少,choose from A B C D, which is the closest。
但如果你不用心的話,C level都是有可能的哦

2015/16 Sem B

A

Ge2213學既野算易明, 得5份notes要溫要記, 頭3課係人口野, 最後2課係Econ (Population size and growth, Population structure, Impact of population growth on society, CPI, Employment)
1) Population Size and growth: eg Growth rate, Crude Birth rate, Rate of natural increase
2) Population Structure: eg Population Pyramid & it's interpretation, Sex ratio, Dependency ratio
3) Impact of population Size & Growth: eg Population density
4) CPI: eg Calculation, Real wages, Purchasing power, 分幾多個sections, 有幾多個index series
5) Employment: Labour force既分類, 幾隻唔同既ratio

呢科主要有兩類assignment
1) Individual [70%]
- Take-home asm x2 : 20%
-- Final test: 50%
2 Group Project [30%]
-- Report: 15%
-- Present: 15%

第1份take-home同之前幾年一模一樣,都係畫下18區既人口金字塔,同埋寫篇文講下唔同區喺public sevice有d咩唔同要求
第2份take-home就要整份最新既unemployment profile, 基本上跟番佢上堂派既sample, 再上網搵番d data, 再自己改下d wordings就ok
Project既topic係consumer price inflation from 2004 to 2015, 同上個sem既employment唔同
Final test就係mc+填充+計數, MC+填充會比d options你揀
D 題目唔算陰濕, 都係考番上堂講既野, 反而係考記性
Eg 問果d乜乜survey係用黎收集咩數據, 幾多年做一次, 某某ratio係幾多%
計數就簡單野, CPI, employment, 唔同ratio果d

其實Teresa調左Individual同Group project既proportion, 原本係60%:40%
同埋佢應該有再調d分, 可能係根據個final test既表現再調番project個分
最後有a我諗都係因為個final test做得唔錯, 因為聽過有一組3個a range, 2個c+
上堂都幾悶下, 但會早放1-1.5hr
間唔中會有d in-class ex. , 應該係用黎take attendance
同埋asm同project既要求的確係有d唔清楚,
eg project個題目係consumer price inflation ... , 但係好多組都以為佢寫錯, 淨係講左cpi, 冇講inflation, 跟住比佢話做漏野
總括而言, workload唔大, 肯認真dd做asm同溫test應該會有a range
PS: 聽講佢好似退休(?), 之後既Ge2213應該會變番以前咁, 將成科business statstics搬過黎教

2015/16 Sem B

C+

攞到呢個grade其實有少少失望,畢竟呢科其實唔難,都係你講吓政府做嘅statistics,啲嘢好易明,我唯一覺得可能衰咗喺個test度,考埋啲嘢都幾陰濕,擺明考你記性。
Any肥,總括嚟講呢科其實都幾有意義,等你認識香港多啲!!!

2015/16 Sem A

A-

得A-已经拼尽全力,学习的内容主要就是quarterly report on the general household survey (from the HK official website), 而group project的内容就是整理出部分的数据并加以分析,it is a course that let u be more and more familiar with the EXCEL, 略略有点无聊,上课学到的内容一般般,BUT IF u wanna know more about the information about demography in HK, u can have a try. u have to recite most things on the papers given by the instructor and u can have a good grade of the final (even I didn't finish the test paper :P)
这个比重就是这样的:
in class exercise 20%
group project 40%
final 40%
wish u good luck

2015/16 Sem A

B

以為會考得好grade少少 自問gp perfrom得唔算差
All gp mate全部冇A Range.
真心唔好reg
GE指南既grade未必可信

背多過計 係真既
因為真係估唔到exam係填咁多窿窿
要stat底 都係真既
因為有d計ratio同類似econ計平減物價指數果d
真係要本身識同有sense先會覺易
唔係就真係要花唔少時間去理解依類野
所以點解話唔好reg
因為真係要勤力再加有數學觸覺先有機會好grade

但其實有認真上堂既話係真。學到野
並唔係d人講到咁垃圾 咁廢
Lecturer都的確有心教
識到好gp mate.

總之唔建議追GPA 既人讀 完

2014/15 Sem B

A

Engine人 有少少Stat底 但課程內容唔多關Stat事

individual assignment *2
group assignment *2
presentation *1 (group assignment 揀一份pre)
final quiz *1

堂要返足因為notes上堂派, 好就好在唔洗自己print notes
-individual assignment 畫下圖 hea 下 hea 下就得 唔難
-group assignment 直接上gov website COPY statistic data 再做少少分析
8個人一組 所以都好輕鬆
-presentation 15+5(Q&A), 8個人每人1-2分鐘 但係成份assignment最好include哂
只要within 15分鐘就OK, Q&A 佢冇問題問我地組 讚完時間控制得好就放人
-final quiz MC + 計數, notes睇一次就得 計數輕鬆 中三/四程度
有幾條tricky D 問某一年既CPI, 唔識撞就算 你唔識大家都未必有背

總之groupmate幾緊要 但係成個course 好輕鬆
